Boudoir Photography in New Hampshire
Your body is not a photography problem that needs to be solved.
Amanda Marquis Photography creates guided boudoir experiences for curvy and plus size women throughout New Hampshire from a Bedford studio where posing, lighting, wardrobe, and preparation are built around the person in front of the camera. You do not have to become smaller first.
Based in Bedford, NH and welcoming women from throughout New Hampshire.

Your Life Does Not Start After the Weight Comes Off
Maybe you have photographs saved on your phone that you would love to recreate someday. Someday after you lose weight. Someday after your stomach changes. Someday after your arms look different. Someday after you finally feel confident enough.
The problem with waiting for a future body is that you can spend years refusing to be photographed in the one carrying you through your life right now.
Boudoir does not have to be a reward for becoming smaller. You are allowed to want beautiful, sensual, bold photographs of yourself today.
Not because you have suddenly learned to love every inch of your body. Not because every insecurity disappeared overnight. And not because someone convinced you that you should feel differently. You can simply decide that this version of you deserves to exist in photographs too.
Babe, you are not a before picture.
Body Positive Does Not Mean You Have to Love Every Angle
There is a version of body positivity that can feel like another expectation. Love everything. Never feel insecure. Never want a different angle. Never admit that part of your body makes you nervous.
That is not required here.
You can love your curves and still have an area you feel unsure about. You can feel confident one day and uncomfortable the next. You can want your waist emphasized. You can love your legs. You can ask about your stomach. You can tell Amanda that your arms make you nervous. Those conversations are allowed.
Body-positive photography should not mean ignoring what you tell the photographer. It should mean listening without shame, then using photography intentionally.
Your preferences matter.

Curvy Boudoir Requires More Than a List of "Flattering Poses"
Bodies are three-dimensional. Photography turns them into a two-dimensional image. That means camera angle, lens position, lighting, movement, posture, and perspective matter.
A pose cannot simply be copied from one person and dropped onto another. Different proportions change the photograph. Different heights change the photograph. Different levels of mobility change the photograph. Different outfits change the photograph. And different clients want completely different things emphasized.
Amanda adjusts posing throughout the session based on the person actually standing in front of her. That may include:
- changing the angle of your hips
- shifting your weight
- adjusting your shoulders
- moving your arms
- lengthening or bending a leg
- changing where your face turns
- adjusting the camera angle
- changing the direction of light
- guiding your hands
- directing your expression
Small adjustments can make a major visual difference. The purpose is not to make you appear as small as possible. The purpose is to photograph your shape intentionally.

Great Plus Size Boudoir Is Not About Hiding the Most Body Possible
When every decision starts with "How do I hide this?" the photographs can stop being about you and start becoming an exercise in making you smaller.
Yes, photography can use shadow. Yes, posing changes shape. Yes, wardrobe can emphasize some areas and soften others. Those are creative tools.
But there is a difference between intentional photography and treating your body like something that has to be concealed.
Curves create shape. Shape creates lines. Lines create composition. A skilled photographer knows how to work with those elements rather than acting surprised when a client has hips, thighs, a stomach, or a larger chest.
Your curves are part of the composition.
If Your Stomach Is the Thing Making You Hesitate, You Are Not Alone
For a lot of women, the stomach is the first concern that comes up when they think about boudoir. You might wonder where it goes when you sit. What happens when you bend. Whether certain lingerie will work. Whether a pose will emphasize it. Whether every photograph will somehow make it the first thing you see.
Those are reasonable questions. You do not have to pretend you never think about them.
Amanda can work with posture, pose, light, wardrobe, camera position, and composition while still creating images that look like you.
Sometimes the stomach will be visible. Sometimes it will be softened by pose or wardrobe. Sometimes it will become part of the line of the photograph. There is no universal rule. The session is built around what you want to create.
You Are Probably Not the First Client to Mention That Part of Your Body
Maybe it is not your stomach. Maybe it is your arms. Your thighs. Your back. Your chin. Your chest. A scar. Stretch marks. Or something no one else notices but you notice immediately.
You can talk about it.
The answer is not to promise that photography will erase every feature you feel unsure about. The answer is to create photographs thoughtfully and understand what you want from them.
Amanda directs the session using posing, perspective, lighting, and composition while keeping your preferences part of the conversation.
You are not being difficult when you tell the photographer what matters to you. That information helps shape the session.

You Can Book Boudoir While Still Feeling Nervous
People often talk about boudoir as though the confident woman books the session. But sometimes the woman who books is nervous. Sometimes she is curious. Sometimes she has wanted to do this for five years. Sometimes she books and immediately wonders what she has gotten herself into.
You do not need to walk into Amanda Marquis Photography feeling completely fearless. That is not the admission requirement.
You can ask questions. You can be nervous. You can need direction. You can need reassurance about the process. That is exactly why the experience is guided.
There Is No Single "Best" Outfit for a Curvy Body
Search online for what plus size women should wear for boudoir and you will find a lot of rules. Wear this to hide that. Avoid this shape. Never show this area. Always wear this style.
Amanda Marquis Photography takes a different approach.
Wardrobe should support the image you want to create. Depending on your style, that might mean:
- a bodysuit
- a lingerie set
- a robe
- an oversized shirt
- a jacket
- a soft fabric
- a sheet
- a personal piece
- something dramatic
- something minimal
- or something completely unexpected
The studio client closet includes sizes XXS through 6XL. You can also bring your own pieces. Wardrobe planning happens before your session so you are not standing in front of your closet the night before wondering whether you chose the "right" thing.
There is no universal right thing. There is the right direction for your session.

Inclusive Wardrobe Has to Be More Than a Marketing Claim
It is easy for a photography studio to say everyone is welcome. The practical details are where that promise either becomes real or falls apart.
Amanda Marquis Photography maintains a client closet with sizing from XXS through 6XL. That range matters. A plus size client should not arrive only to discover that every studio wardrobe piece stops several sizes before hers.
The closet gives clients more possibilities while planning their session and can be combined with personal pieces brought from home. The goal is not to force every client into the same lingerie. It is to create options.

The Photographer Should Know How to Photograph Your Body
A plus size client should not have to arrive knowing which pose will work for her. She should not have to teach the photographer how to light curves. She should not have to apologize because an outfit fits differently on her. She should not have to make herself smaller so the photographer feels more comfortable.
Photography is the photographer's craft. That means understanding light, perspective, shape, movement, composition, posing, expression, wardrobe, and the person in front of the camera.
Your body is not failing the photograph. The photographer has to know what to do with the camera.
You Do Not Have to Wake Up Loving Every Inch of Yourself
Some days you may feel incredible in your body. Some days you may not think much about it at all. Other days may be harder.
Boudoir does not require you to manufacture a huge declaration of self-love before you book. Sometimes wanting photographs is enough. Sometimes curiosity is enough. Sometimes deciding that you would like to see yourself through a professional camera is enough.
You do not have to turn your body into a project. You are allowed to simply exist in it. And you are allowed to be photographed in it.
Sensual Does Not Have a Size Requirement
Plus size boudoir does not need to be the safer, softer, more covered version of somebody else's session. Unless that is what you want.
Your photographs can be soft, romantic, bold, dark, editorial, playful, sensual, dramatic, minimal, or a combination of styles. Your clothing size does not determine how daring or restrained the photographs should be. You do.
The session should reflect your comfort level and the photographs you want to create.
