My Top 6 Tips to Prep for Your Luxury boudoir experience
The luxury boudoir experience is transformative, empowering, and a complete game-changer when it comes to your self-confidence. But what I never want it to be is stressful. The weeks leading up to your session may cause a bit of anxiety—What should you wear? How should you do your hair and makeup? What if you don’t look your best? But I'm here to remind you to take a deep breath because there are steps you can take to feel prepared for the big day! I'm sharing six simple things you can do in the weeks leading up to your session to ease your nerves and make this the most incredible experience of your life.
1.Select Your Outfits
Picking your wardrobe may be the most stressful part of planning your session, which is why I offer a free consultation AND offer full access to my client closet full of sexy pieces. These options ensure you are feeling great about your choices. There are no limits when it comes to what you choose to wear for your session, and I've photographed women in a range of styles. Some women decide to bare it all, and others choose to cover up. Regardless of your choice, I want you to feel comfortable in whatever you choose. During our consultation, I can help you narrow down choices or point you in the right direction of what may flatter your body type. So stop stressing, and get excited about capturing photos of you looking your absolute best.
2. Stretch
I know what you're thinking...stretching? For a boudoir session with me laying on a bed? Yes! So many women stress about posing in their photos. While I am there to position you head to toe, stretching for several weeks ahead of your session will enable you to get into poses you may not otherwise be able to and hold those poses so I can capture them. Try doing a couple cat-cows before bed or holding child's pose to open your hips. While you're down there on the floor, try some stretches that open your shoulders and stretch out your back.
3. Wax in advance
If you plan to wax, make sure to do it at least 3-4 days before your session. I know you may be anxious about looking silky smooth, but if you wait too long to get a wax, you risk skin irritation showing up on the day of your session. I can't tell you how many times I've seen women come in with irritation on their eyebrows or bikini line! And while the magic of editing can make this all disappear, it changes their confidence level and the way they carry themselves in the studio.
4. Hit the spa
Get the pampering started early! Of course, you'll love the entire morning of glam before we take your photos, and my hair and makeup team will make you feel like the queen you are. But why not start your pampering a little early? Grab a facial or a massage, and don't forget a manicure and pedicure! The little details like having your nails done will take your pictures over the top and boost your confidence to the next level!
5. Refine your vision
I want your vision for your boudoir session to come to life, and I will do anything in my power to make it happen. It's good to have a plan for how you envision yourself looking and whether or not any props need to be brought in to help your vision come to life. Do you want your hair and makeup to be natural, or are we stepping outside of ourselves for a more dramatic look? Do you want a piece of furniture that I don't already have in my studio? Want to wear wings, fur, or a feather boa? It's essential to know these things ahead of time. It's fun to scroll through other's boudoir pics and gain inspiration for your own, and even more important for you to communicate your vision to me, so I can make it happen!
6. Take care of yourself
I know it's hard to sleep when you're excited, but try your best to turn in early the night before your shoot. I know what you're thinking—it's not going to happen, but if you're feeling tired the day of your session, it will come through in the pictures, and we want you to feel as good as you're going to look on that day. And there's nothing worse than feeling bloated or dehydrated the day of your session, so try to eat light and hydrate before hitting the sheets the night before.
With these tips, you'll feel totally prepared for your big day! So get excited for a day of pampering and empowerment!
